Lab Scale, Segmented Telescope Mirror
Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) - Russell B. Makidon Optics Lab
Johns Hopkins University - Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Preliminary research is needed to determine the necessary precision for observations of Earth-like exoplanets with the LUVOIR space telescope concept. This mirror design is intended to assist in that optics research. Each segment of the mirror is actuated in 6 degrees of freedom using PCBs and Arduino commands. This was an undergraduate senior design capstone project with a team of three students, along with sponsors at STScI and guidance from Johns Hopkins University professors.

Design, Build, Fly (DBF)
Johns Hopkins University Team
The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) organizes an annual intercollegiate and international competition for designing and building remote controlled (RC) airplanes. Each year, a series of new challenges must be completed. I was a member of the Johns Hopkins team for four years, co-president for my third year, and a technical advisor for my fourth year. I still build RC planes for fun and maintain resources for those interested in starting the hobby.
